October 11, 2017

Company expands its executive leadership team with the addition of prominent industry expert.

Lighthouse, a leader in technology-enabled discovery, information governance and consulting services, announces that Jamie Brown has joined as Vice President of Global Advisory Services, where she will focus on information law, compliance and governance issues.

"Lighthouse has seen a dramatic rise in client demand for guidance on what were previously considered IT issues topics such as legacy data remediation, cloud migration, use of big data and artificial intelligence, and the impact of the new EU General Data Protection Regulation," said Brian McManus, chief executive officer for Lighthouse. "New technology presents additional legal and regulatory risks that the Global Advisory Services team will help companies resolve. We are excited to have Jamie onboard as her knowledge aligns perfectly with Lighthouse's goal to expand the scope of our team with a comprehensive set of offerings that will continue to meet our global clients' growing mandates."

For many organizations, the legal and regulatory risk associated with data, information use and information technology is significant. There are rising demands on corporate legal and compliance departments for help resolving highly complex, challenging and often novel legal issues. These issues are tricky not just because they are technical, but because an effective planoften requires the engagement of multiple corporate stakeholders. This is compounded by the fact that data lives and moves so easily, which means it is subjected to multiple countries' laws and regulations.

"As a former litigator and regulator, Jamie has a deep background in advising large organizations on GRC issues related to electronically stored information," said Patrick Oot, partner at Shook, Hardy & Bacon and co-founder of GICLI and The Electronic Discovery Institute (EDI). "We both worked for the government at the same time (she was at the CFTC and I was at the SEC), and during our tenure, we collaborated and benchmarked regularly to develop pragmatic strategies that targeted budding issues in data risk. I look forward to her continued work and support on the advisory board of The Government Investigations and Civil Litigation Institute (GICLI), and we at Shook look forward to collaborating with her on projects for mutual clients."

Prior to Lighthouse, she worked for several leading financial institutions, including UBS and Barclays. She also served as a trial attorney, and subsequently, assistant general counsel for the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission. Brown began her career as a litigation associate at King & Spalding, and later, as a partner at Fennemore Craig. She is a former law clerk to the Honorable Roslyn O. Silver for the US District Court of Arizona and a Duke Law graduate.

Brown has 17 years of in-house, government and law firm experience. AtLighthouse, she will draw upon this background to advise corporations, particularly those in heavily regulated industries, on governance, risk and compliance (GRC) strategies related to electronically stored information andcross-border privacy. She will be located in Lighthouse's New York office. For more information about this announcement, please contact info@lighthouseglobal.com.
